About Thea

Thea Piltzecker is a documentary filmmaker and journalist based in New York.

Thea’s work has aired on PBS, CNN, Showtime, the History Channel, and other networks. She has also produced independent films and podcasts. Her reporting expertise includes US history and politics, migration, and religion. She is a former Pulitzer Crisis Reporting Fellow and the co-director of the film “A Table for All,” which follows the lives of asylum seekers. 

Thea has taught as an adjunct professor at Columbia Journalism School. She is a graduate of Columbia Journalism School and Bard College.
